Day 319: My new H&M harem pants, The XX VCR remix and passing another checkpoint in life…

Today, I wore these pants. / Today, I listened to this music. / Today, I got this text. / Today, I feel… you guessed it! – grateful! ūüėČ / That feeling when you’re navigating a new city for the first time and feeling a little lost… and then suddenly you see a McDonald’s or a Starbuck’s and breathe a sigh of relief because at least that is something familiar… and at least, you sort of know where you are now. and it doesn’t make sense but you feel that little bit safer standing underneath that yellow or green glow. and then, to top it all off, you realize the landmark or checkpoint you’ve been looking for is actually right there, just around the corner… reassuring you you’re going the right way… – I just got that feeling =) x / Sometimes, we are forced to make decisions we don’t want to make. Not because they’re wrong, but because in the moments right before, during the agonising delivery, and immediately after, you cannot help but think …

Day 248: Pesto, Natarajasana #8 and Ankle pants…

Pesto – so underrated and under-appreciated! / Thanks Donna for bringing my charger down! / Tonight, Mark was like a drill sergeant, disguising what felt like a mini master class as a Dharma 2 or 3! But you know what, it got me into this pose for the first time. Natarajasana – the Dancer pose – Variation #8. Status: Accomplished. Next! =) / Cut off pants. I like. Grateful to have mine back. Gracias. x

Day 183: The Biggest Selling Tracks of the 21st Century, Aunty Lorna and Uncle Callum, my new Tucano work bag, Radiopaq Wires and Joy!

Grateful for catching flight no. 2 of 14 back to London. / Grateful for my Aunty Lorna and Uncle Callum for putting me up this weekend. / Grateful I got to spend more time with the family than if I’d just gone snowboarding the whole time. / Grateful for my late night chat in bed with Joy and watching my cousin grow up! Exciting time ahead =) / Grateful for the Top 50 biggest selling tracks of the 21st century showing on TV this morning. It’s like someone dug up my old iPod from a time capsule and plugged it into the TV. Flashbacks include: Kelly Rowland & Nelly with Dilemma. Eamon with Don’t want you back. Eminem with Stan and Lose Yourself. Wheatus with Teenage Dirtbag. Kings of Leon with Sex on Fire… Shall I go on? Now you know you are getting old when your 17 year old cousin looks at you with a blank face and goes huhhh¬†when you get excited about all of these tunes! / Grateful for my new Tucano …

Day 166: Trench Coats, Trainspotting, Tortellini with Spinach and Kat!

Today, it was cold. It was wet. It was freezing. I was extremely¬†grateful for my new, long trench coat. Thanks momma! / I love trainspotting. I love the film. And I love Jo’s and my version of it even more. Because this means sitting on a bench at one of the Highbury & Islington platforms for an HOUR catching up… because it was too cold and too expensive to go outside… and because we just missed each other so god damn much! / I love tortellini. Especially when it’s stuffed and served with spinach… and a bit of Kat on the side! =P / I love Kat. And I am so grateful for the moment she came up to me by the poolside in Year 8, just before I was about to dive in, to ask if I was any good at swimming. “Yes,” I said. “I’m really good at breaststroke!”. And that was it, the beginning of a long and beautiful friendship. And today, 12 years later, I am just so so so happy …

Day 165: 28kg Suitcases, Silk Pyjamas and another Safe Flight…

Am grateful that my suitcase was so damn heavy and actual weighed MORE than when I went out to Hong Kong (which is impressive considering I had a 5L slow cooker and a whole bunch of other presents wrapped inside my bag!). / Am grateful because it means I have been given more this year than I expected. / And am even more grateful because it gave me the opportunity to witness human kindness once again. So I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the random stranger at Manor House tube station who was kind enough to help me lug this beast up the stairs after a very long journey home. / Thank you, momma, for my new silk pyjamas. They are SO comfortable =D / Am grateful for another safe flight and a beautifully smooth landing despite the moment of turbulence on the plane. / I am, truly, grateful for every minute I had tonight to curl up in bed and forget things were any different. Thank you and …

Day 153: High School Reunions, Lululemon Scuba Hoodies and Nine West Space Cadet Boots…

Gotta love high school reunions. Especially when the night ends up with all the different cliques and sub-groups lost, scattered and dispersed somewhere between Central, Soho and Lan Kwai Fong. I guess some things never change! =p But you know what the best part of it all was? The number of chance encounters and missed calls and text messages that were transmitted across the Hong Kong skyline when we were all desperately trying to find each other again. =) / Sam – thank you so much for organising the whole thing! Until we meet again! x / I love Lululemon¬†and my new scuba hoodie! / I especially love the fact that this scuba hoodie comes with a built in ’emergency hair tie’ – pure genius! / I love Nine West and how it is always on sale every time I come home for Christmas =) I love that… and my new space cadet boots! =D

Day 152: Full body massages, my new Havaianas and spending the afternoon wrapping Christmas presents with my sister…

Am so¬†grateful for that massage! Was feeling so much like a tightly wound alarm clock until that just took all the knots and crosses out of my muscles and bones! Ahhh… relief at last! Until tomorrow’s yoga class that is! / Grateful for my new havaianas. Surprising how 18 degrees can feel hot compared to London at the moment! / Even more than receiving presents, how I love wrapping them! =D / Am so grateful all my presents got to Hong Kong in once piece and intact! Phew!

Day 147: Engagement Parties, Toni & Guy, head massages at the salon and my even shorter haircut!

Admit it. You love the head massages you get at the hairdresser’s as much as I do! I know you do! / I love Toni & Guy and my brand new, shorter than short haircut! =D This is actually the chop I wanted from the start but was advised that as it was quite a drastic change from the long locks I’d grown out in St Lucia, going mid-length first was a “safer” option. Well, I’m glad I went for it in the end =) Though… if I keep cutting my hair every time I get restless… I might end up bald by the new year… =/ =p / Thank you Ana for my new look. / Loved the free coffee I got while waiting for my turn (even if they did forget about me for 15 mins!) / At least the coffee came with a thick chocolate star sprinkled generously on top of my latte =) / Thank you, Kerry and Ben, for inviting us to your birthday-cum-engagement party. You make me smile, and …

Day 105: Jak's, BB-IM, The Slow Movement, having a completely free Saturday afternoon and my new hairdo!

Grateful for Jak’s – amazing food. amazing company =) / Grateful for BB-IM. Without it I wouldn’t have been able to talk to my momma so much this afternoon. / Grateful I discovered the Slow Movement while doing some research for this blog. I do encourage you to visit the site if you’re reading this. I think we could all do with a little more slow in our life. Especially¬†when you live in a city like London like I do. And you work in an industry like Digital+Advertising like I do!¬†/ Grateful I got to practice the slow movement and walk at my own pace, paving my own way today. Lord knows I needed it. / Grateful I finally got the guts and the freedom to chop my hair off! =O =) =D * ‚ÄúThe only thing for certain is that everything changes. The rate of change increases. If you want to hang on you better speed up. That is the message of today. It could however be useful to remind everyone that our basic …
