Day 357: Dharma Thai Workshop, The Art of War, Witnessing Mo Farah beat The Cube, Vita Coco and Gange-a-Midi…

The formula for a perfect, balanced, chilled-out Saturday is pretty simple: Embrace the summer monsoon with this Gange-a-Midi track. / Practice 90 mins of yoga with Jessica, followed by 90 mins of Thai massage basics with Rob and Casi. / Purchase 1 serving of cold, refrigerated Vita Coco and thank god you finally love coconut water and thus, feel normal. / Come up to the Stricklands, home away from home away from home… / Show Gracie some tricks of the trade… I have to say, it is friggin awesome and inspiring seeing a 7-yr-old do half of the Dharma II stuff I would normally teach in class! Crow to headstand included! Honestly, if I’d started this young… … I would’ve probably been taken off the planet by now. / Witnessing Mo Farah beat The Cube… WITH 6 LIVES LEFT! What a legend. Really, truly, made of gold! / Master Sun said: ‘Know the enemy, Know yourself, And victory Is never in doubt, Not in a hundred battles.’ He who knows self But not the enemy Will suffer one defeat For every victory. He who knows Neither self Nor …

Day 326: This morning, Liquid Dub, Liquid DnB, Moustache Smilees, Aunty’s Bracelet and Foyles…

This morning reflects my mood =) grateful! / This is actually the most chilled out track list in the world. Especially the opening remix of Sweetheart of Kairi. Man you just feel like a balloon lifting higher and higher, getting smaller and smaller in the sky listening to this… =) Awesome. Grateful. / And this… well, this is just powerful! 😉 / Today, I discovered you could make moustache smilees! I know! ={O! The conversation went like this: Joanna:  holy shit can’t wait to hear this story :S me:  haha……yea….. Joanna:  okay defo lunch date me:  lol thought so =[p woah hahahah its a sticky tongue motuh with a moustache! new smileee!! Joanna:  Haha i love it =[) =[( ;[P me:  ) oh Joanna:  haha me:  OMG it has a tache!!! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA – Yea. Day 308: Teaching my 7th yoga class, Stefan Sagmeister, Homemade Mojitos, Backyard BBQs, Anna, Frankie and a bit of Bob Marley…

Today I taught my 7th yoga class… Grateful! / Stefan Sagmeister – Inspired. Grateful! So happy my book finally arrived =D Cannot wait to read =) / Homemade mojitos + Frankie + Banans + BBQ + a bit ‘a Bob Marley… well that’s about as chilled a Saturday as you can get, really! Ohhhhhh… Grateful! 😉

Day 290: Cinnamon Toast Crunch, The 10,000 Hr Rule and more Future Planning…

Cinnamon Toast Crunch – my guilty pleasure. And it’s no secret either! Anyone that knows me will realize how perfect the combination of cinnamon + cereal is… YUM! – Yea, it’s so good, they eat each other! =p / Tonight, I’m glad I listened to my body and went home instead of going to my physical yoga practice. It is very rare these days that I come home any earlier than 10pm. So when I do, it’s amazing how much can get done. Just because I ain’t moving, doesn’t mean I ain’t doing. I’m grateful I spent the time tonight, taking the necessary steps, reaching out to the people I need to, to keep my yoga internship and futureplanning on track. 10, 000 hours. That’s how many hours Malcolm Gladwell reckons it takes to become an “expert” at something – whatever it is you put your mind to. Well, rest assured that tonight, I logged my hours. I scraped 6 more hours  off my 10, 000. And it felt good =) After all, you gotta …

Day 196: Nawaz, Trudging through snow, Drink Shop Do, World Mate, Tash and Badger!

Grateful for Nawaz – best indian restaurant in town! No, seriously. Just don’t tell your friends ok? Don’t want this place getting too mobbed! =p / Love trudging through snow! =) I’m one of those people that will purposefully go out of my way to trudge and slush and smush through snow! I actually got in trouble twice tonight for accidentally kicking snow onto people’s legs at the bus stop. hahaha / Drink Shop & Do – what an awesome venue and concept for a bar cum cafe cum arts and crafts centre cum shop cum night club. <3 it. / World Mate – the travel app that will (and already has!) made my life a whole lot easier and will hopefully mean I will never miss another flight in my life again! =D / Tash, Badger – love you both. Very much grateful to still have you in my life =) So great seeing and spending time with you tonight. Here’s to good ol’ no. 48. “It was the best of times, it was …

Day 179: My first set of snow gear, Ping Pong and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali…

Grateful for the sales at Mountain Warehouse. Meant I got to purchase my first set of snowgear for this weekend! Woo! Exciting times ahead =) / Grateful for Ping Pong and 3.5 hours of catching up with Leigh. It continuous to amaze me how much our lives parallel each other. It’s really weird. Every time we speak or meet, there’s about 5 more detailed facts we find out about each other that makes us go… “Okay. That’s weird. Don’t freak out but…” I love it. I don’t get it. But I love it. I’m grateful we can connect that way =) / The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali… finally completed Books 1 and 2 and really loved and truly, fully, appreciated every second reading it. I’m grateful this was on my booklist and I was encouraged to delve into this properly. This and the Bhagavad Gita… the best chicken soup combo for the soul =)

Day 144: The Bhagavad Gita.

With only one and a half chapters left to go, I think I am justified in saying that this is probably one of the most important and influential books I’ve ever read and will most likely ever read. I understand now why Radhika kept saying I must have been a Hindu in my past life. Never have I come across a piece of text – of poetry – that speaks to and resonates with the deepest thoughts and feelings of my heart. Reading this is like listening to an echo of myself that I have, at some point in time, recorded and thrown into the ether. And which has now come back to me. When you hold this book in your hand, it is like holding the hand of your bestest friend, your lover and your mother all at the same time. I am, and forever will be, grateful for this. / “Fear Not. What is not real, never was and never will be. What is real, always was and cannot be destroyed.”

Day 142: The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Seeing the Atlas Mountains and Radiohead…

The last time I listened to this song properly, I was sitting on a bus between Guilin and Yangshuo in China with Nicole. That was nearly 2 years ago. Today I’m glad to have plugged this into my ears again while I looked down on Marrakech and promised I’d be back to conquer the Atlas mountains one day… Anyone care to join? =) / “Without realizing it, the individual composes his life according to the laws of beauty even in times of greatest distress.” – I love this book. And I think this view out the window today sums it up perfectly =) This is, I think, what a peaceful, blissful mind looks like. Ahhh… =)

Day 134: Swami Nikhilananda, Shawarma, Therapeutic Flying and Balancing a Mermaid on my feet…

‎”May we always remember that our life on earth has a purpose larger than we see…” – Thank you, Swami Nikhilananda, for translating the Bhagavad Gita to make it more accessible to the rest of the world and people like me who don’t (yet) understand Sanskrit. I look forward to more learning, more growing and more understanding over the upcoming months. / I love the picture above, not because I’ve been to Texas or because I was at a yoga conference recently. Not even because I did this pose myself! I love the picture above because finally, I’m becoming stronger acting as a base and I actually got our yoga teacher flying this while balancing on my little feet. =) Woohoo! After all, you can’t really say you do acroyoga unless you can base and fly. =) / 7 minutes – that’s how long I kept someone flying for while learning more of the therapeutic, recovery and massage sequences of acroyoga =) / Chicken Shawarma = YUM! NOM! x

Day 122: A mountain of cushions and Amazon.com…

I love pillows. Full stop. Especially when they are handpicked with love from the street market vendors of India and Hong Kong combined =) Thank you momma! / I don’t think anyone quite understands how much joy these cushions bring to my life (except maybe Tom). If my room is my world and my bed, my haven, then these plump and vibrant squares represent and are constant reminders of the things I love and wish I had more of in life: more sunsets, more trees, more culture, more character, more spirituality, more yoga… more life. =) / I like starting and ending my day like this. =) / Thank you Amazon.com, that is a total of 12 books worth nearly £200 I purchased from you today. But I’m sure it will all be worth it =)
